Amazon Abyss" is a surprisingly good hour of documentary. As the title suggests, the hour is spent exploring the murky depths on the mysterious, and dangerous, Amazon River. Much of the time is spent hunting for rare and unusual creatures – and the crew experiences a great deal of success in their endeavors. Because of the exotic and unique location and creatures, this documentary was well-positioned to be worth watching. But there is a high production value here to compliment the high-interest subject matter. The result is a truly compelling documentary.
